OK, I've been really really busy, and I've let things slide. Sorry 'bout that. From last fall till right now Speculation Publications released two anthologies, debuting in the top ten of their respective genres. 15 different writers. Eight of them speculating about the real life Dancing Plague of 1518. And eight more terrifying us with feminine horror.
I am incredibly proud of both of these publications, as a writer and an editor and publisher. If you're into alternative history and mysteries or horror with amazing female protagonists, these books are for you.

With the R v W leak, and increasingly invasive restrictions on the bodily autonomy of people with uteruses, women, and many gender minorities. People feel betrayed by a system that promised to protect their rights and the people in power who swore they were overreacting.
What does that look like?
How does anger manifest when it’s been bottled up and gaslit for decades? What kind of power does that anger hold?
Incubate means any number of things. It is how a body can make a fetus into a baby. But we also can incubate anger, power, ideas, strength. What do those things look like when they are born into the world?
We don’t want the stories of oppression. We don’t want rape and abuse, at least not on the page. We want the horror that comes when a woman oppressed released all the rage that has incubated within her in a system that dehumanizes her. We want the manifestations of Lilith, Medusa, Kali, Freya. Goddesses of feminine strength and feminine rage and the chaos they unleash upon the world.
We want blood. We want body horror and monsters and witches and revolution.
We want authentic voices and stories that rip away from the male gaze.

Autumn is here and winter is around the corner. We're still crazy busy here at Speculation Publications!! Our fourth anthology, The Dancing Plague: A Collection of Utter Speculation, will be available on October 11, 2022 through Amazon for print or ebook. LCW Allingham, Susan Tulio and I are super excited to bring you this newest edition in the speculation series.
"In 1518, a woman started dancing on the streets of Strasborg and could not stop. No priests, physics or leaders could help as more and more joined her, jaunting as their feet bled and their bodies broke.
Centuries later the mystery endures, explained as mass hysteria, mob mentality but suspected to be something much more sinister. In this fourth collection of Utter Speculation nine authors offer stories of witches and wishes, love and longing, of music and mastery and the deepest secrets of the restless heart."
The nine wonderfully talented writers contributing to The Dancing Plague are ... JD Byrne, Elizabeth Guilt, Jocelyne Gregory, Deborah Henley, C. Owen Loftus, Jennifer Lee Rossman, Allison Thurman and David L. Updike and Tara Wenzel
