Lucky for me I found these great pictures to go with my small piece of the second book, The Hollow. The pictures are amazing and reminiscent of the cover of the same book. I love my book cover, but these images are truly awesome! Enjoy both the words and the pics! Happy Reading!!
Excerpt from The Hollow:
Certain people were allowed back into the command center, and it was busy. I dumped my shoes in the trash and made my way to the only free computer I could find — an older unit at Romeo’s desk. I couldn’t remember the black-haired man’s name, but I knew exactly where he was from. It took some time to find the documents from Lord Orel’s tunnel clean out last year, but when I read through the information on those arrested, I found who I was looking for. It was the leader, Jon White. The one who swore they were making an underground city. I priority emailed the information to Generals Galen and DeFarr, the EDO, and I printed it out for Captain Gloader, because he would be the first captain on duty come daybreak.
I also printed the proper ammunition and equipment requisitions I needed for tunneling next week, assuming it was still a go. I was reading them when someone tapped my shoulder. I looked up and Romeo made a face.
“Ouch! Look at that. I went to sit with you outside. Why aren't you there?”
“I’m OK.” I touched the side of my face. “It doesn’t hurt that much. Is it bad? I haven’t seen it.”
“It’s not too swollen, considering.” He tilted my head back and to the side. “The purple is from the middle of your cheek to the back of your neck. He got you right on the jaw. You must have gone down like a sack of cement.”
“His fist felt like a barbell. I saw it coming and turned my head, but he was on top of me. How’d you know it was a he?”
“Malena. What do you remember?”
I gave him the papers I’d printed for Gloader.
“From New York, huh? That’s fairly interesting.”
“I thought so.”
“Why do you think they left you in the solarium?”
“I think maybe Loki scared them.” I shrugged. “He’s the one that found me.”
“I know.” He stared at me in that no-blinking way of the vampire, and I knew he was angry with me for following the guy by myself.
“Why don’t we look for the other one?” I asked, reaching for a change of subject.
“You don’t have to worry about him.” Romeo sighed. “Our king killed him.”
“Oh, that was Brown Hair?”
“You heard?”
“I did. Pretty nasty stuff.”
His eyes widened in agreement. He waved the paper.
“I’ll spread the word while you go lie down.” He used my chin to steady my head and look in my eyes. “Your eyes aren’t dilating properly. You have a concussion.”
“I know, but it’s not too bad.” I shrugged. “I’m going to go home.”
“Not a good idea. That's two concussions in as many months. You should be watched.”
“Livi can watch me.” He gave me an angry face. “You don’t have to worry.”
“I always worry about you.” He bent down and kissed me very gently on the cheek. “I told you to leave. Twenty minutes later you’re being carried out with the wounded.”
“He was right in front of me. I had to go after him.”
“To do what? You should have told someone.”
“You were busy.”
“Then you should have gone for Galen.”
I dismissed that idea. I wouldn’t have done that even if I’d thought of it.
“It’s my job,” I said seriously. “I go after dangerous people.”
He frowned at me. “Yeah, well, next time, don’t go off alone.”
